SS21 Streetwear Trends

It was a little quiet in the fashion world in 2020 due to the pandemic and lockdown. People went from rocking fantastic fashion styles to getting dressed in pyjamas all day.

However, this season’s fashion is back, unlocking even more adventurous and stylish streetwear. From oversized jackets to bright pink dresses and wide-leg trousers, this year’s trend will definitely renew the excitement to dress up every day.

We have combed through different collections and socially distanced runways to bring you the best colour and streetwear trends, making waves in 2021.

1.   Wide Pants

Since this summer is about comfort and freedom, say goodbye to skinny jeans and add a good pair of wide pants to your wardrobe.

XXL pants exhibit elegance. From female suits with extra-wide legs to men’s casual flared pants, this trend is probably going to be the season’s favourite streetwear.

You can go for neutral colours ranging from buttercream and pastels to brighter colours like pink and magenta.

Wear a fitting t-shirt and remember to choose the right shoes.

2.   House Slippers and Sliders

It’s way pastime to break the cycle of wearing boots and heels everywhere. Some designers this season introduced new shoe trends, and the house slippers and sliders stay on top for streetwear fans.

For a dose of comfort in your show game, wear your house slippers: flip-flops, sandals, open toes, and sliders. You may want to pair these fits with socks as styled on many runways.

3.   Show Some Legs

Long legs are the official aesthetic every summer, and 2021 is no different. The weather heats up, and outfits that display your legs are essential for the summer wardrobe.

The updated trend to showing some legs is making it super short. Many collections this season featured cut-off jean shorts, printed microscopic miniskirts, and swim briefs.

4.   Statement Collars

Say goodbye to basic collars because this season is about statement collars. The Spring-Summer fashion collections made it clear that statement collars are still a trend. So, skip that neck jewellery, wear statement collars to elevate your shirt/blouses, and decorate your neckline.

You can pair it with retro jeans, sunnies, and house slippers for a casual look.

5.   A lot of Pockets

The patchwork and military trend couldn’t have made a better comeback than this season. This season is all about looking sharp like you have just won a fight.

This season, in men’s streetwear fashion, expect to see military wear, field jackets, denim, and coats with many pockets.

The best way to wear outfits with patch pockets? Don’t put anything in them!

6.   Fashion Facemasks

Who would have thought facemasks, a preventive measure, would become one of the biggest fashion trends for SS21?

Facemasks at the moment are winning the race for the essential fashion item. They took centre stage in different fashion cities, and the best we’ve seen so far are coordinated masks that match your full outfit.

7.   Bomber Jackets

The bomber jacket will be on everyone’s lips this season. This classic menswear was spotted in many luxurious collections, including Tom Ford’s.

Bomber jackets are innovative and functional. Combine yours with the right pair of sneakers or sandals for a smart look. Or dress it up with a t-shirt and matching shorts for a more sophisticated look.

8.   Bralettes

Season after season, bralette remains a recurring streetwear trend that sits somewhere between underwear and apparel.

Consider wearing a statement bra top over your shirt or shirt dress for a sophisticated look. Another common trend is wearing a bra top to shape oversized garments. Our favourite style is going for a casual look by pairing your bralette with vintage denim or a maxi skirt. You can also dress it up by pairing it with a blazer.

9.   Scarfs

Scarfs remain one of the biggest accessories to inject elegance and touch up your outfit. There’s no shortage of choices when it comes to your scarves. Choose from vintage designs to silk and floral motifs, or keep it simple with plaid or bold colours.

You can tie it around your neck, on your handbag strap or channel the 50s by actually wearing it on your head or wrapped under your chin.

10.   The Cutout Fashion

There is something very alluring about cut-out outfits, and this trend is back for this season. From cut-out sleeves to cut-out backs and stomachs, one thing remains obvious, a hint of skin is a sophisticated fashion trend that is going nowhere anytime soon.
